Tell us about your role

I joined RHEA Canada’s cybersecurity team in August 2022 to work with RHEA’s main alliance partner for CITEF deployments in Canada in the realm of cybersecurity.

What is your favourite aspect of your job?

I really enjoy interacting with people from diverse backgrounds who are experts in their field.

What made you want to work in the security sector?

My background is in physical security within Canadian government programmes. I made the move to RHEA because I wanted to enhance my knowledge of the growing field of cybersecurity.

What has been your most memorable career highlight?

I once worked on a satellite communications project that involved having our antenna installed on a specific military aircraft (I cannot disclose which one). It was a long project that included a lot of qualification testing.

Would you recommend a career in your sector?

Yes, I would definitely recommend a career in this sector because this is a growing industry worldwide – and that offers both job security and growth as security tools change and mature.

The different career paths and opportunities within the security sector are endless. You will never get bored!

Do you have any tips for people trying to get jobs in the security sector?

There are many paths you can pursue based on your interests and skillset, but having a basic understanding of IT systems and networks is a plus.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I have a passion for travelling. I have travelled throughout North America and to the UK, parts of Europe and the Caribbean. I am always looking for my next adventure!

Other than that, when I have free time I enjoy the outdoors, including kayaking, fishing, camping or going on a hike.

Tell us something unusual about yourself

I am a big fan of spicy food and grow my own pepper plants during the summer months. These include Bhut Jolokia ‘ghost peppers’ and Trinidad Scorpions, which are among the hottest peppers in the world!
