RHEA Canada is looking for Security Systems Technicians to augment and support our security system maintenance teams across Canada. Reporting to the Team Lead, technicians maintain, repair, and inspect security system components, connections, cables, and/or devices to ensure that security systems remain in operational condition. The Security Systems Technician may also support the selection of new or replacement components or devices.
Tasks and Activities
The scope of work will include:
- Supporting the maintenance, calibration, repair, and inspection of technical security systems involving multiple technologies such as (but not limited to): CCTV and video surveillance systems, electronic access control systems, complex communications systems (radio, intercom, etc.), x-ray machines, alarm systems, etc.
- Reviewing a broad scope of technical criteria.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and/or blueprints (and suggesting improvements, as appropriate).
- Monitoring work package activities and reporting to the team lead, as required.
- Ad-hoc activities may include training new technicians, making suggestions on replacement components or devices, etc.
- Inspecting items to determine the requirements for repair
- Installing electronic equipment and/or components.
- Repairing electronic equipment and/or components.
- Inspecting and testing electronic equipment.
- Repairing or replacing defective or worn-out parts and components.
- Testing and adjusting repaired products for proper functioning.
- Adjusting, aligning, replacing, or repairing electronic equipment and assemblies.
- Completing work orders, testing, and maintenance reports.
- Preparing cost estimates.
- Routine use of hand tools and power tools.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
The following education and credentials are required:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience (5+ years).
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience as a security system technician, including the use of hand tools and MS Office
- Must qualify for a Government of Canada security clearance.
- Must be professionally fluent in English.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Any additional experience
Working Conditions
- Hours: This is a full-time, permanent role covering a 40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday (daytime), with opportunities for overtime and on-call requirements.
- Location: This is onsite, in workshops hosted on client site
- Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000 annually as a baseline, plus on-call premiums and overtime compensation. Benefits & 3 weeks’ vacation are also included.
